Jeonnam Provincial University, Dongshin University, and Sehan University Collaborate in Volunteer Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center announced on the 21st that it has sequentially signed business agreements with three universities: Jeonnam State University on the 11th, Dongshin University on the 16th, and Sehan University on the 17th, and will participate in volunteer activities specialized by each university.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Heo Gang-suk, Director of the Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center, Park Byeong-ho, President of Jeonnam State University, Choi Il, President of Dongshin University, Yang Bok-wan, Vice President of Sehan University, and about 20 officials from the two institutions.
Through volunteer activities, it is expected to help students develop patience, apply what they have learned at university in practice, build a cooperative system between universities, and foster teamwork.
Jeonnam State University (President Park Byeong-ho) plans to actively participate in volunteer activities utilizing majors in two fields: social welfare and beauty art including hairdressing; Dongshin University (President Choi Il) in three fields: medical health, welfare rehabilitation, and education culture; and Sehan University (Vice President Yang Bok-wan) in four fields: health care, multicultural, special education, and physical education.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲establishing a linkage system between university student volunteer demanders and suppliers ▲contributing to the spread of a sharing culture in the local community through university student volunteering ▲creating a related network for positive changes in university student volunteer activities ▲supporting vulnerable groups through cooperation in talent donation based on specialized university majors ▲strengthening cooperation in various areas such as promoting friendship between the two institutions, and considering various incentive plans to encourage university student participation.
Park Byeong-ho, President of Jeonnam State University, said, “I did not know that the work and roles of the Volunteer Center were this extensive through this business agreement,” and added, “In the future, we will encourage students to participate so that their major subjects are linked with volunteer work to become the light and salt of the local community.”
Choi Il, President of Dongshin University, also said, “Although the business agreement is somewhat late, I hope students grow as together-type local workers who improve employment and character,” and added, “We will work harder to nurture talents who can lead regional development in cooperation with the Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center.”
Yang Bok-wan, Vice President of Sehan University, said, “The value of volunteering in student education is very great,” and added, “I hope the Volunteer Center cooperates with our university to guide students so that character development and employment can be linked.”
Heo Gang-suk, Director of the Volunteer Center, said, “Talent donation activities utilizing specialized majors by school will be an opportunity for character education, caring for neighbors, and a step toward a warm society,” and added, “We will do our best to support students who volunteer by setting an example.”
Meanwhile, the Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center is preparing for the ‘Jeollanam-do University Federation Volunteer Corps Launch Ceremony’ with 10 universities in the province that signed business agreements.
