Free Book Lending Program for Disabled, Pregnant Women, and Families with Infants in the District
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun announced that it is operating a ‘free book delivery service’ for residents who find it difficult to visit the library.
This service is a county-run project implemented to provide reading convenience to residents by lending library-owned books free of charge via courier to users who have difficulty visiting the library.
The service targets reading-disadvantaged groups residing in Goheung-gun, including people with disabilities, pregnant women, infants under 36 months (caregivers), and seniors aged 65 or older.
When applying, people with disabilities must submit a disability welfare card, pregnant women a maternity handbook, caregivers of infants under 36 months a resident registration certificate, while seniors aged 65 or older do not need to provide separate proof documents.
Users can apply for books available for loan through the library website, borrow up to 10 books for 21 days, and the courier service is dispatched twice a week.
Also, since the county covers the courier fees for both lending and returning, users can comfortably enjoy reading at home without having to visit the library or post office separately.
A resident A from Goheung-eup said, “It was difficult to go to the library because my child is young, but through the book delivery service, there are many books I can read to my child, which is great.”
A county official said, “We will do our best to provide various library services so that everyone can conveniently make reading a part of their daily life and create a reading culture in Goheung.”
