[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Mercedes-Benz Korea launched the facelifted model of the high-performance lineup AMG’s 4-door coupe, ‘The New Mercedes AMG GT 43 4MATIC Plus,’ on the 21st.
The Mercedes AMG GT 4-door coupe is the third model independently developed by Mercedes AMG and the first 4-door sports car. It was first introduced in Korea in October 2019 and has since sold 3,478 units as of last month, solidifying its position in the high-performance market. The facelifted model allows buyers to choose from various exterior colors, wheel designs, and styling packages as optional features.
The new car is equipped with a 6-cylinder gasoline engine featuring a 48V electrical system. It delivers a maximum output of 367 horsepower and a peak torque of 51.0 kg·m. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The engine is paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission. Driving modes can be customized according to preference, and AMG RIDE CONTROL adjusts the damping of each wheel per mode. The vehicle’s exhaust sound can also be controlled via a button.
With a fastback design, the car presents a sleek impression and features an AMG-exclusive vertical radiator grille. The front end, inspired by a shark nose shape, is characteristic of the GT model. The taillights are horizontal, creating a wider visual effect. The steering wheel has been newly designed, allowing operation of driving modes and key AMG functions without taking hands off the wheel. It is finished in Nappa leather and includes a circular controller below the spoke. Two 12.3-inch displays connected as one form a widescreen cockpit as standard. The car is sold through the online sales platform Mercedes-Benz Store. The price is 143.1 million KRW.
Alongside the new car, a limited edition of the same model, ‘The New AMG GT 43 4MATIC Plus Special Edition,’ was also launched. It features a unique Rubellite Red exterior color, a V8 exterior styling package, and an AMG chrome package. Some interior design elements and AMG RIDE CONTROL Plus suspension are included, enabling stable driving even on rough roads. It comes standard with functions that control wheel slip during high-speed driving or cornering, as well as the Dynamic Plus package. The price is 169.6 million KRW.
