[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Yoon Ho-jung, the emergency committee chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the announcement by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol to relocate the presidential office to Yongsan on the 21st, calling it "a choice that is utterly harmful to people's livelihoods and a disaster for national security."

At the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Chairman Yoon said, "The people are anxious and suffering day by day, yet the person called the president-elect is only thinking about decorating a new house, which is truly disheartening." He added, "Within ten days of the election, the true nature of an uncommunicative government has been fully revealed. This is why in the U.S., rumors are spreading that 'K-Trump has emerged in Korea,' and there are even talks that it will be a 'swearing-in blessing rather than a lame duck period.'"

He argued, "The Yongsan Blue House era means a complete halt to nearby reconstruction and redevelopment, and it will be inevitable to install anti-aircraft artillery on the rooftops of some apartments in Gangnam." He continued, "The Yongsan area will experience constant traffic paralysis due to presidential motorcades, and Yongsan Park is likely to become a private park under the pretext of security."

Chairman Yoon said, "No matter where the Blue House is, the people want a president who works hard. Thinking about moving the presidential office even before the inauguration is a betrayal of the people."
