The Presidential Transition Committee's Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development has completed the appointment of 16 members, including Jeong Uncheon, a member of the People Power Party, as vice chairman, and has begun full-scale activities.
On the 21st, Kim Byung-joon, chairman of the Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development, held a briefing at the annex of the Korea Financial Training Institute in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, stating, "Balanced development is involved in all central government affairs such as industry, finance, education, and land policy," and emphasized, "Since President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol is emphasizing regional balanced development and local decentralization more than any previous president, we plan to operate as broadly as possible."
The Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development consists of a total of 17 members, including the chairman and vice chairman. Vice Chairman Jeong is from Gochang, Jeonbuk, and has served as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and as a Supreme Council member of the Grand National Party. Other People Power Party members appointed to the special committee include Eom Tae-young, Ha Young-je, and Hong Seok-jun.
Kim Beom-su, a district committee chairman of the People Power Party, was appointed as a member from outside the National Assembly. For youth recruitment, lawyer Ryu Je-hwa from Yeomin Joint Law Office joined the committee.
Additionally, the committee includes Byun Jeong-seop, chairman of the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation; Yuk Dong-il, former director of the Daejeon Development Institute; Lee In-seon, chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan City Local Autonomy Council; Ha Hyung-joo, former dean of the College of Sports Science at Dong-A University; Hyun Eul-saeng, former mayor of Seogwipo; Park Gi-gwan, professor of public administration at Sangji University; Kim Jae-gu, next president of the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration; Won Suk-yeon, president of the Korean Association for Public Administration; Oh Jeong-geun, professor of economics at Konkuk University; and Lee Ki-woo, professor at Inha University.
