Gyeonggi-do Participates in aT's 'Korea Green Food Day' Campaign

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) and Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that they have signed a business agreement to promote low-carbon dietary habits and revitalize the local economy.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will cooperate on ▲expanding the low-carbon diet 'Korea Green Food Day Campaign' ▲revitalizing the local economy by strengthening the supply and consumption base of local food ▲collaborating to improve awareness of the climate crisis and promote carbon-neutral lifestyle practices, thereby practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

Korea Green Food Day is a low-carbon dietary campaign that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire process of food production, distribution, and consumption for the sake of all of us and future generations, practicing 'net zero from farm to table.' Since last year, the corporation has been expanding this as a nationwide movement by cooperating with 61 organizations including local governments, education offices, and associations.

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), carbon dioxide emissions related to food account for 31% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Kim Chunjin, president of aT, said, "Low-carbon dietary habits are the first step to protecting our one and only Earth, so I ask the 13.9 million residents of Gyeonggi Province to actively practice this at home, workplaces, schools, and restaurants."
