Jeongeup-si Supports Social Welfare Facility Workers with 'Accident Insurance' Enrollment

Jeongeup-si Supports Social Welfare Facility Workers with 'Accident Insurance' Enrollment

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it will support group accident insurance enrollment to ensure the livelihood stability and health rights of social welfare facility workers.

In March last year, the city signed a business agreement with the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association to improve the treatment of social welfare facility workers and has been promoting the group accident insurance premium support project for the first time in the province.

Group accident insurance is a system that guarantees medical expenses for injury accidents requiring hospital treatment or compensation in case of death or injury caused by unexpected accidents during daily life or work for workers employed at social welfare facilities.

The annual insurance premium is 20,000 KRW, of which 10,000 KRW is covered by the government, and the 10,000 KRW paid by the worker is fully supported by city funds.

Accordingly, 724 workers at 80 social welfare facilities in the region will be able to receive benefits that reduce medical expenses up to 30 million KRW in case of injury accidents.

The coverage period is one year starting from the 1st of next month, and compensation can be received even if insured under other insurance policies.

The city also pays a welfare facility worker allowance of 100,000 KRW per person twice a year and supports 56,000 KRW per person for paid training expenses.

In addition, it supports domestic and overseas training expenses and maintains close cooperation with facility workers through events such as Social Welfare Day commemorations, sports competitions, and workshops.

A city official said, “We appreciate the hard work of the workers who faithfully carry out their given mission on the front lines of social welfare sites, and we will continue to pay attention to the rights and treatment improvement of social welfare facility workers and promote various policies.”
