Air Busan Resumes Busan~Guam Route... "Operates Twice a Week"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Air Busan announced on the 17th that it will resume flights on the Busan~Guam route starting from the 30th of next month.

Air Busan will increase flights on the Busan~Guam route to twice a week, expanding the air route from Gimhae Airport. The schedule is twice a week. All flights depart from Gimhae International Airport at 8:05 AM and arrive at the local airport at 1:05 PM. The return flight departs from the local airport at 3:05 PM and arrives at Gimhae International Airport at 6:30 PM. The flight time takes about 4 hours. Air Busan's latest aircraft, the A321neo, will be deployed.

Air Busan was the first domestic airline to resume the Busan~Guam route since COVID-19, starting from November last year. This route is the only tourist route from regional airports excluding Incheon Airport. Despite many difficulties such as the government allowing only one flight per week and quarantine for overseas arrivals, Air Busan continued operations to maintain the air route from Gimhae Airport, which was hard to open.

Air Busan stated that it decided to resume flights on the Busan~Guam route in line with the quarantine authorities and related ministries' decision to increase flights to once a week and the easing of domestic and international quarantine measures, expecting a noticeable recovery in travel demand. In particular, as the government has implemented quarantine exemption measures for domestic travelers who have completed vaccination abroad, expectations for travel recovery are growing. It will be possible to travel on a 3-night 4-day or 4-night 5-day schedule, and inquiries about Guam travel are expected to surge.

Upon entering Guam, passengers must carry ▲an English certificate of completed vaccination ▲a negative COVID-19 antigen test result or PCR test result issued within one day of the departure date to enter without quarantine. Additionally, the Guam Visitors Bureau supports the cost of PCR tests required for Korean travelers upon return. Detailed information can be found on the Air Busan website or the Guam Visitors Bureau website.

An Air Busan official said, “Following Saipan, flights to Guam will also operate twice a week, and we expect Gimhae Airport to gradually regain vitality,” adding, “As Air Busan has steadfastly maintained Gimhae Airport, we will continue to operate more international flights so that travelers can satisfy their thirst for overseas travel.”
