[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government 50 Plus Foundation announced on the 17th that it will promote an internship program that utilizes the professional experience of the 50+ generation in the public service sector in cooperation with the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Foundation and the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation.

To this end, the foundation will sequentially sign business agreements with the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Foundation and the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation starting from the 17th. Based on this agreement, the three organizations will collaborate to implement the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Government Investment and Contribution Institutions Internship’ program targeting the 50+ generation in Seoul.

The ‘Seoul Metropolitan Government Investment and Contribution Institutions Internship’ program is a ‘public institution suitable internship model’ that utilizes the professional experience of middle-aged and older adults in public services for citizens. It targets 62 Seoul citizens aged between 55 and 65 and involves the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Foundation and the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation’s Housing Safety Comprehensive Center, an organization that provides one-stop housing welfare services to improve the housing welfare of Seoul citizens. Going forward, one center will be sequentially opened per autonomous district.

Applications for the Seoul Metropolitan Government Investment and Contribution Institutions Internship will be accepted starting from the 21st. Detailed recruitment information is available on the 50+ Portal. Twenty-six participants will be selected to work at the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Foundation, primarily handling counseling related to COVID-19. Thirty-six participants will be selected to work at the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, supporting tasks such as ‘Single-Person Household Housing Management Services’ including simple home repairs and home care services aimed at improving the housing environment for single-person households at the Housing Safety Comprehensive Centers in each autonomous district.

Lee I-jae, Director of the Seoul 120 Dasan Call Foundation, said, “We are pleased to sign a business agreement with the 50 Plus Foundation, which provides work experience to the 50+ generation and offers the 120 Foundation the know-how of professional personnel. Based on this agreement, we will actively resolve citizens’ inquiries about city and district administration and fulfill our social responsibilities in the public sector.”

Kim Heon-dong, President of the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, said, “One of our corporation’s most important roles is to support Seoul citizens facing housing difficulties. We hope that the cooperation between SH Corporation and the 50 Plus Foundation will be an opportunity to further improve the housing welfare of Seoul citizens.”

Gu Jong-won, Acting CEO of the Seoul Metropolitan Government 50 Plus Foundation, also stated, “The Seoul Metropolitan Government Investment and Contribution Institutions Internship program will be a mutually beneficial platform that provides excellent work experience to the 50+ generation and professional know-how to Seoul’s investment and contribution institutions. We will spare no effort to ensure that this business agreement not only builds partnerships among the three organizations but also benefits the 50+ generation seeking work experience and Seoul citizens using public services.”
