[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) will fully allow the use of distance measuring devices.
On the 15th, it announced, "Since 2019, the use of distance measuring devices has been permitted on the Champions Tour," and "Starting this year, the scope of distance measuring device usage has been expanded to all tournaments organized by KLPGA." This applies not only to the regular tour but also to the Dream (2nd tier) and Jump (3rd tier) tours, as well as various qualifying and selection tournaments. In the regular and Dream tours, the use of materials for reading the greens is restricted. The existing yardage books detailed the slope direction and angle of the greens.
However, starting this year, only areas with severe slopes or the edges of slanted greens are indicated. Only yardage books approved by the KLPGA Competition Committee may be used, and in the approved yardage books, slopes of 4% or more are marked with black arrows of equal length without numerical values. The cart usage regulations will also change. From July, the use of both electric and manual carts will be prohibited in all tournaments organized by the KLPGA. This is to resolve issues related to delays in play, safety, and course damage.
