[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 15th that it was selected as an outstanding institution among 322 organizations participating in the '2021 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and received the Prime Minister's Commendation.
Last November, the corporation conducted the '2021 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training' jointly with 13 related organizations including Incheon Metropolitan City, Yeongjong Fire Station, Jung-gu Health Center in Incheon, and Incheon Airport Quarantine Station to strengthen disaster response capabilities at Incheon Airport.
The training simulated a situation where a B737 passenger aircraft veered off the runway due to a gust of wind while landing at Incheon Airport, conducted as if it were a real event. During this process, the government recognized the corporation's excellence in disaster response, including ▲advancement of Incheon Airport's emergency response system ▲establishment of cooperation systems with related organizations ▲public-private joint training, awarding the Prime Minister's Commendation.
In particular, the corporation received high evaluations in the public-private joint training by additionally conducting 'Aircraft Accident Cabin Evacuation Practical Training' in collaboration with Bucheon University’s Department of Aviation Services.
Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, “In preparation for the gradual recovery of air travel demand in the post-COVID-19 era, we will further strengthen cooperation systems with related organizations and establish an advanced disaster response system to provide safer airport services to passengers.”
Meanwhile, the corporation announced its 'Top 10 Priority Tasks for 2022' last January, and based on this, it is striving to prepare for early recovery of air travel demand through strengthening smart quarantine systems and expanding non-face-to-face services, as well as providing differentiated passenger services in the post-COVID-19 era.
