Implementation of Small-Scale Workplace Safety Facility Installation Support Project This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it will support the installation costs of aging air pollution prevention facilities to fundamentally solve local environmental problems, alleviate the financial burden of installing prevention facilities due to strengthened emission standards, and reduce fine dust.
This project has been implemented since 2019 through national subsidies as part of the Ministry of Environment's measures to reduce fine dust, supporting 90% of the installation costs for prevention facilities at small-scale workplaces (50% national funds, 40% local funds, 10% self-payment).
Up to last year, more than 700 small-scale workplaces in the region (total project cost of 85.3 billion KRW) have been selected and improved or are in the process of improving air pollution prevention facilities.
This year, 20.7 billion KRW will be invested to support the improvement of prevention facilities at more than 220 sites, and the project will be entrusted to the Gyeongbuk Green Environment Support Center, which has expertise in the related field.
The support targets are small and medium-sized enterprises according to Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises, and Type 4 and 5 workplaces according to Article 13 of the Enforcement Decree of the Air Quality Preservation Act (support for Types 1 to 3 small and medium enterprises may be possible depending on budget conditions).
Boilers installed in apartment complexes or office/commercial buildings are also supported if replaced from general burners to low-NOx burners, and workplaces required to mandatorily attach Internet of Things (IoT) measuring devices according to the revision of the Air Quality Preservation Act are included.
It is a principle to support the installation of one prevention facility per workplace targeting local small and medium enterprises, and businesses receiving subsidies must attach IoT measuring devices to verify the proper operation of prevention facilities when emission facilities are operating and operate the prevention facilities for more than three years.
Businesses wishing to apply should check the relevant city/county project announcement (website notices/announcements), fill out the application form, and submit it in person.
For inquiries related to the project, contact the local environmental department or the Corporate Environment Support Project Team at the Gyeongbuk Green Environment Support Center.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, “We will do our best to realize a clean Gyeongbuk where you can breathe blue skies and clear air 365 days a year through air environment improvement projects,” and urged, “We hope for the active interest and participation of companies in the province.”
