Police Equip Radios with 'One-Touch' Feature for Career Support Requests

Police Equip Radios with 'One-Touch' Feature for Career Support Requests Portable device. / Provided by the National Police Agency

[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 14th, the police announced that they have equipped radios with a 'one-touch' function that can be used in emergencies to support police personnel.

According to the National Police Agency, this function allows users to send a police support request message to a designated control room and participants by pressing two side buttons on the portable device simultaneously for more than 3 seconds. When a worker requests support, an emergency alert sound and message are displayed on the control room's command device, and upon checking detailed information, the device's location is shown on the map. This idea was selected as the best entry in the 'Field Safety Assurance Idea Contest' held in March last year.

The police explained that they have completed developing this function using next-generation disaster network devices (radios) introduced and distributed in the central region in 2019, the southern region in 2020, and the metropolitan area last year. In January this year, the police conducted updates registration and manual distribution for the developed function, and plan to encourage completion of the function update on all devices by this month. The police stated, "We plan to continuously improve user affiliation information and address inconveniences during field use in the future."
