[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon claimed that the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) can only be reformed by 'sorting out' broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, former People’s Livelihoods Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min, and others. In response, former Chairman Yoo reportedly retorted, "A dog barks at Confucius."

Hwang Hee-doo, a director at the People’s Livelihoods Foundation who served as the digital spokesperson for the DPK’s 20th presidential election campaign committee, wrote on his Facebook on the 13th, "Pro-Yoon (short for pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) speaker Jin Joong-kwon is giving unsolicited advice again right after the election." He added, "Later, I contacted writer Yoo Si-min to greet him and asked about Jin’s remarks. He briefly said, 'It is neither Confucius’s fault nor the dog’s fault that the dog of Dochuk barks at Confucius.'"

Dochuk is a term referring to an evil thief, and former Chairman Yoo’s reference to Jin as the 'dog of Dochuk' appears to be a veiled criticism.

Earlier, on the 11th, Jin Joong-kwon argued that the DPK’s reform requires "restoring abnormal political communication" and insisted on breaking ties with Kim Eo-jun, former Chairman Yoo, and others.

In a Facebook post that day, he emphasized, "We need to sort out Kim Eo-jun, Yoo Si-min, and several foolish small-to-medium influencers (those with influence on social networking services)."

He continued, "The problem is that there is no exorcist to perform this exorcism ritual," and criticized, "Supporters have been brainwashed by them for over ten years, so their souls are completely consumed. If these evil spirits are removed from their bodies, they would be unable to live at all."

The next day (the 12th), Jin wrote another post on Facebook criticizing former Chairman Yoo.

He said, "Kim Eo-jun, Yoo Si-min, and other political ronin making a living through YouTube have brainwashed the public, preventing rational and reflective thinking," and criticized, "Since they have become organized voting blocs as party members or local constituencies, they exert decisive influence on the nomination process, so lawmakers cannot have their own convictions out of fear of them."

He added, "A few lawmakers with convictions are either driven out of the party or forced to keep silent, resulting in the party becoming a quasi-totalitarian party that does not tolerate any dissent," and pointed out, "The scene of lawmakers appearing on Kim Eo-jun’s broadcast to show their certificates of election is a visual symbol of this pathetic situation."

He further stated, "The problem is that even if they lose so thoroughly (in elections), this cannot be corrected," and explained, "People like Kim Eo-jun and Yoo Si-min create and sell alternative realities to the public frustrated by this reality with another sophistry. This needs to be fixed, but currently, there is no force within the Democratic Party to lead this reform, nor is there a willingness to bring one from outside."
