[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Wooseok] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, evaluated the results of the 20th presidential election on the 10th, saying, "Today’s election results show that the people have allowed the opposition party to take power, but at the same time have given stern criticism and a serious sense of responsibility."
On the same day, Ahn said on his Facebook, "In the recent Seoul mayoral by-election, I created a foothold for regime change through unification, and finally joined forces with candidate Yoon Seok-yeol to achieve regime change."
Ahn emphasized, "Now the future is more important. We must heed the will of all the people expressed in this election," adding, "We must move toward unity and the future, not division and conflict. We must create a country of fairness and common sense and set this country upright."
He continued, "The government must respond to the demands of the times and humbly follow the will of the people. This country must move toward the future, not the past," and stated, "I will do my best to work with President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol to build a 'Better Republic of Korea' that is fair, sensible, and leads to the future and national unity."
Meanwhile, President-elect Yoon won the 20th presidential election with 48.56% (16,394,815 votes) and was elected as the 20th president.
