[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 7th, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) stated that Samsung Electronics' recent hacking attack by a foreign hacker group, which led to some information leakage, "is not considered to involve national core technology under the Industrial Technology Protection Act."

The NIS explained, "We have confirmed the news reports and whether national core technology was leaked in cooperation with related ministries and the company involved." The NIS also said, "Regarding the leaked source code mentioned in the reports, we are identifying and responding to the use of 'mobile security platforms' and the installation of security programs targeting national and public institutions." Furthermore, it emphasized, "We plan to support the collection of hacking-related information through various domestic and international channels, acquisition of intrusion indicators such as IP addresses and malware, and detection rules."

Earlier, Samsung Electronics announced in an internal notice regarding the 'hacking issue' that "we recognized recent external attempts to steal information and immediately activated a response system," adding, "The leaked materials confirmed so far include some source code necessary for Galaxy operation, but do not contain personal information of employees or customers." The hacker group LAPSUS$ claimed on the 5th that they hacked Samsung Electronics' servers and disclosed some confidential data including source code.
