[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Promising figure skating sisters and a youth bowling representative, among other notable new and current students at Dongmyeong University, participated in the university's motivation induction semester.
The figure skating hopeful sisters Song Yujin and Song Kyungeun, who won gold and placed fourth respectively at the 103rd National Winter Sports Festival figure skating event, are now second-year and first-year students in the Department of Sports Rehabilitation at Dongmyeong University.
The younger sister, who has been figure skating alongside her older sister since elementary school, enrolled as a freshman in the same department, becoming senior and junior at the university.
Gold medalist Song Yujin will introduce her university life experiences to new students during the motivation induction program on the 11th.
Jang Gayoung, a first-year student in the Department of Global Cultural Contents and a youth bowling representative, also enrolled as a freshman and is participating in the motivation induction semester program running from the 2nd of this month until April 1st.
Dongmyeong University operates a motivation induction semester system that raises all freshmen's understanding of their major and career paths as well as their learning motivation early on.
The university's program includes ▲ meetings between professors, seniors, and peers ▲ campus tours and department explorations, senior lectures, major experiences, teamwork-enhancing group activities, ▲ college-specific experiences (singing, dance, theater, UCC production) ▲ and a ‘special talk show’ involving the president, Dongmyeong University distinguished professor and singer Insooni, deans, freshmen, and current students.
The Department of Military Science offers ▲ conversations and career counseling with senior students ▲ experiences at the Drone Education Research Center ▲ vocational aptitude tests and officer selection exam preparation ▲ special lectures on the military career path ▲ lectures related to the Marine Corps ▲ tea ceremony and traditional etiquette experiences ▲ conversations and career counseling with alumni seniors ▲ and team UCC competitions.
President Jeon Ho-hwan emphasized, “The motivation induction semester system, which has been implemented since 2013, will be expanded to all departments this year. We have also made arrangements so that not only freshmen but also current students who have experienced COVID-19 can participate as much as possible.”
