What Is the Secret Behind the Significant Revenue Growth of Seongdong-gu's 'Customized Bidding Information Service' Companies?

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jeong Won-oh)’s ‘Customized Bidding Information Service’ has been shown to increase the number of successful bids by local companies, contributing to sales growth.

In the fourth quarter of 2021 (October to December), the number of successful bids and the bid amounts achieved through the ‘Customized Bidding Information Service’ recorded 76 cases and 53.649 billion KRW, respectively, marking increases of 55.10% and 38.18% compared to the same period the previous year.

The sharp rise from 49 cases and 38.823 billion KRW in the fourth quarter of 2020 is attributed to the effect of the ‘Customized Bidding Information Service,’ which began operation around mid-October last year.

The bidding information (announcements) provided through the ‘Customized Bidding Information Service’ reached 183,723 cases, and within less than three months of operation, 165 companies had registered (as of January 1, 2022).

The ‘Customized Bidding Information Service’ provides optimized real-time information on bids and successful bids from contracting authorities nationwide, including the Public Procurement Service’s ‘Nara Market,’ the Ministry of National Defense, Korea Expressway Corporation, and the private sector. Users can set specific conditions such as period, region, and industry (licenses, etc.) to receive information tailored to their interests.

Companies can check announcements matching their criteria daily through their weekday schedules, separately classify and manage bids of interest to prepare for bidding at any time, and consult on bidding procedures and methods through a professional call center.

The district plans to continuously monitor statistics such as bid success rates through the ‘Customized Bidding Information Service,’ which helps reduce costs and increase sales for companies, and to establish active management support measures to support their sustainable growth.

The Customized Bidding Information Service is free to use after confirming whether a company is located in the region and registering as a member on the bidding information internet homepage.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “The ‘Customized Bidding Information Service’ has reduced related costs and lowered barriers to bidding,” adding, “We hope this service will provide companies and small and medium-sized merchants with various bidding participation opportunities and help them pioneer new markets.” He also stated, “We will continue to make efforts and provide support to enhance companies’ competitiveness, contribute to revitalizing the local economy, and create a business-friendly environment.”
