[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] ‘CJ Cultural Foundation’ has started a support project for creators in underrepresented areas of popular culture as a ‘cultural guardian’ for young creators.
The indie musician support project ‘Tune up’ aims to introduce various music genres outside the star system to domestic and international music markets and to revitalize the popular music ecosystem. Applications are open until March 22. Any musician who has released fewer than five albums based on full-length albums can apply, and up to six teams will be selected through online screening and live performance evaluation.
The final selected teams can choose between producing a new album or creating a new music video and receive up to 15 million KRW in creative support funds. Additionally, as the only musician support project in Korea with both online and offline performance platforms, it offers customized support such as various planned performances held at ‘CJ Ajit Gwangheungchang,’ overseas expansion support, and appearances on YouTube’s ‘Ajit Live.’ ‘CJ Ajit Gwangheungchang’ is an offline platform where musicians can freely create, providing spaces such as concert halls and recording studios, as well as music equipment. YouTube’s ‘Ajit Live’ is CJ Cultural Foundation’s online platform with 320,000 subscribers and approximately 75 million cumulative views. It offers performance opportunities not only to the final selected teams but also to all teams that advance to the live performance showcase starting this year.
Detailed information about CJ Cultural Foundation’s representative support project ‘2022 Tune up 23rd Musician Recruitment’ and various creative support projects can be found on the website.
