Approximately 6.8kg of Philopon Transported...Estimated Value Around 21 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 30s who was charged with transporting drugs sufficient for 200,000 doses was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
On the 1st, Judge Ji Sangmok of Criminal Division 7 at the Seoul Western District Court announced that he sentenced Tak Mo (38), who was indicted for violating the Narcotics Control Act (stimulants), to 2 years and 6 months in prison and ordered him to complete 40 hours of a drug offender rehabilitation education program.
Judge Ji pointed out, "Despite knowing that it was narcotics, he transported, administered, and possessed them, and the amount of methamphetamine possessed was not small," and "He committed this crime during the recidivism period despite having previous similar offenses."
However, he explained the sentencing reason by considering, "He was in financial difficulty and could not resist the temptation of a considerable amount of money, and he is remorseful for his wrongdoing."
Tak was indicted for transporting about 6.8 kg of methamphetamine (worth approximately 21 billion KRW) hidden in a vacant lot in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, after receiving a proposal through an internet job site around August last year from a person he met, saying, "If you receive and transport the goods, you will be paid up to 20 million KRW as a fee."
Tak is also accused of administering some of the methamphetamine he was storing on the same day.
