Hyundai Construction Equipment, Early Year Order Relay in Emerging Markets Asia and Oceania Appearance of Hyundai Construction Equipment 22-ton Excavator HX220S

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Hyundai Construction Equipment, a subsidiary of Hyundai Genuine, is accelerating its penetration into emerging markets from the beginning of the year by consecutively securing orders for over 500 construction machines, including excavators and wheel loaders, in the Asia-Pacific region.

Hyundai Construction Equipment announced on the 1st that it recently received an order for 181 wheel loaders and medium-to-large excavators from 'Porter,' one of the largest rental companies in the Southern Hemisphere. These machines are scheduled to be delivered sequentially to Australia and New Zealand by the end of this year.

Earlier, in January of this year, the company signed a contract for 320 units of 22-ton excavators (model names: HX220S 220 units, HX225SL 100 units) in the Indochina Peninsula. The HX220S is an entry-level model of the 20-ton excavator, which Hyundai Construction Equipment focuses on as its main product, and will be delivered to customers by the first half of this year to be deployed in local mines, roads, and construction sites.

Through this, Hyundai Construction Equipment achieved sales performance in the Asia-Pacific region by the end of February this year that increased by 62% compared to the same period last year. The company aims to sell more than 3,300 construction machines in this region this year, an increase of over 30% compared to last year.

Including this recent order, the backlog of orders in the Asia-Pacific region amounts to approximately 2,000 units, with ▲188 units in the Philippines ▲304 units in Indonesia ▲586 units in the Indochina Peninsula region including Thailand and Vietnam ▲1,058 units in the Oceania region including Australia and New Zealand.

The consecutive order contracts are the result of analyzing growth rates in the Asia-Pacific region and reorganizing the sales network in advance. Hyundai Construction Equipment has been making efforts to expand its sales network by increasing local sales personnel responsible for Oceania last year, establishing a new branch in Thailand, and expanding new dealers in the Philippines.

A Hyundai Construction Equipment official stated, “As demand for excavators for coal mining continues in Indonesia and demand for construction equipment is surging in Australia due to rising raw material prices, the favorable sales trend of construction equipment in emerging markets is expected to continue this year. We will strive to expand sales by actively responding to the increasing demand in emerging markets along with targeting advanced markets such as North America and Europe.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Doosan Infracore, another subsidiary of Hyundai Genuine, is also continuing to secure orders mainly in emerging markets in the Asia region. Earlier this month, Hyundai Doosan Infracore succeeded in securing orders for 148 excavators of 50 tons or more and 23 articulated dump trucks (ADT) from coal and mining companies in Indonesia. Additionally, last month in Mongolia, it secured orders for nine ultra-large 80-ton excavators and seven 100-ton excavators, achieving a 54% increase in performance compared to last year in the high-profit large equipment sector by the end of February this year.
