[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang County, Jeonnam, is starting applications for emergency disaster relief funds to support the recovery of daily life and revitalize the local economy, which have been devastated by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the county on the 24th, all residents registered as of the 8th with an address in the county will receive 100,000 KRW worth of Damyang Love Gift Certificates. Online applications will be accepted from February 28, and in-person applications at the town and township offices will be accepted from March 14 to 31.

The head of the household must apply and receive the funds collectively. To promote the use of the Damyang Love Card and reduce the inconvenience of in-person applications, those under 50 years old (born after February 8, 1972) are required to obtain the Damyang Love Card and apply online. Those aged 50 and above can apply either online or in person.

Additionally, to prevent COVID-19 infection and congestion during in-person applications, applicants are assigned days based on the last digit of their birthdate: 1 and 6 on Monday, 2 and 7 on Tuesday, 3 and 8 on Wednesday, 4 and 9 on Thursday, and 5 and 0 on Friday.

The disaster relief funds are planned to be distributed starting early April after securing supplementary budget.

The county expects that by providing the disaster relief funds, it can offer some comfort to residents exhausted by COVID-19 and stimulate consumption to invigorate the local economy.

A county official said, “For smooth online applications, please apply for the Damyang Love Card through the gift certificate ‘chak’ app or visit the nearest Nonghyup, Credit Union, or Saemaeul Geumgo to obtain the Damyang Love Card.”
