"We aim to apply blockchain across the entire educational ecosystem." Park Kyung-hoon, CEO of Boomco Communication, has introduced blockchain technology following artificial intelligence (AI) for his language education service. While AI has so far differentiated the service, he believes that blockchain technology will maximize educational effectiveness in the future. Based on this, he is one step closer to his goal of creating a 'platform that helps people speak well.'

On the 24th, CEO Park said, "We are integrating blockchain technology to enhance the service and plan to launch it in early April." Boomco Communication currently provides online Korean language education services based on AI technology. Their strategy is to solidify the service foundation with AI and expand the service area through an education system utilizing blockchain in the future.

CEO Park was able to establish this service enhancement strategy after the successful market entry of ‘Boomco,’ a K-culture-based customized Korean language education service launched in 2020, the first year of the startup. He discovered business potential amid the surge in demand worldwide for learning Korean, driven by the popularity of various Hallyu cultures such as K-pop and Korean dramas, while most existing Korean language education services and materials were primarily basic-level content for young children. To address this mismatch between demand and supply, he introduced ‘Boomco,’ a Korean language education platform targeting Generation Z. CEO Park said, "While researching the language market, I saw the market size and growth potential of Hallyu content and created a Korean language education service linked to it."

Boomco offers 15-second Korean learning video content about Korean culture, K-pop, dramas, and movies through its application. It also delivers Korean slang appearing in the latest Hallyu content via an email subscription service through its community feature. Compared to existing education platforms that simply connect instructors or focus on situational daily conversations, Boomco is characterized by rich content reflecting the latest local trends. CEO Park explained, "We use AI technology to match users with content based on their interests."

Boomco Communication has pioneered the global market, focusing on Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. In 2020, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH) in Vietnam to establish a local service base and formed a partnership with MindClick Digital Media, an educational marketing company in Thailand. Last year, they also partnered with Bambini, an edtech company in the Philippines.

Results have begun to materialize. Sales, which were only 41 million KRW in the first year, increased more than 15 times to 634 million KRW last year. The number of employees has also grown to about 20. CEO Park said, "This year, we aim to increase the team to around 50 members," adding, "We also plan to expand investment from the initial angel investment level to 10 billion KRW."

Boomco Communication’s growth trajectory was greatly supported by the Small and Medium Business Corporation’s Youth Startup Academy. Through the 11th Youth Startup Academy last year, Boomco Communication was able to enhance its app and web programs. CEO Park said, "We continue to research and develop the Korean language education platform to expand the market in line with global trends," and added, "We will strive to become a leading K-culture company."
