LG Chem Appoints First Female Outside Director

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] LG Chem has appointed a female outside director for the first time since its founding.


On the 22nd, LG Chem held a board meeting and resolved to recommend Vice Chairman Kwon Bong-seok as an other non-executive director, and Professors Lee Hyun-joo of KAIST Department of Bio and Chemical Engineering and Cho Hwa-sun of Yonsei University Department of Political Science and International Relations as outside directors.


They are scheduled to be finally appointed after the regular shareholders' meeting held on the 23rd of next month at the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul.


All the new outside director candidates are women. Professor Lee Hyun-joo was born in 1976. She served as an assistant professor and associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yonsei University and is currently a professor in the Department of Bio and Chemical Engineering at KAIST.


Professor Cho Hwa-sun was born in 1966. She served as an assistant professor at the Graduate School of IT Policy at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, director of the Institute of National Administration at Yonsei University, and is currently a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Yonsei University.
