2022 College Admission Additional Recruitment of 18,038 Students
Medical Fields Additional Recruitment Reduced by More Than Half Compared to Last Year
Additional Recruitment Applications Allowed for Those Who Gave Up Regular Admission Registration
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The 'last call' for university admissions, the 2022 academic year additional recruitment, begins on the 22nd. The number of recruits has decreased compared to last year, when the number of unfilled spots significantly increased.
According to the University Education Council, 14,038 students will be additionally recruited across 141 universities. Last year, 26,129 students were recruited from 162 universities, which is 8,091 fewer than last year.
This year, the overall increase in early and regular admission registration rates led to a decrease in additional recruitment numbers. For the 2022 academic year, the number of applicants for the CSAT increased by 16,387 compared to the previous year, and the number of high school seniors also rose by 8,623. It is interpreted that students who had difficulties due to the integrated CSAT actively registered, and universities made strenuous efforts to increase the enrollment rate to reduce the number of additional recruits.
According to Jongno Academy, some additional recruitment spots were also available in the medical fields. There are 9 spots in total based on general admissions. Among medical schools, Jeonbuk National University Medical School (regional) recruits 2 students, and Dongguk University (Gyeongju) Korean Medicine School recruits 1 student. Among pharmacy schools, Gyeongsang National University, Kyungsung University, and Wonkwang University each recruit 1 student, totaling 3. Veterinary schools recruit 3 additional students in total: 2 at Chungnam National University and 1 at Chungbuk National University. The number of additional recruitment spots in the medical fields has also decreased by more than half compared to last year (20 students).
Among other universities conducting additional recruitment are major Seoul universities such as Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Hanyang University, Kookmin University, Kwangwoon University, Sejong University, and Sungshin Women's University, as well as regional flagship national universities like Kyungpook National University.
Additional recruitment is available to those who have not been accepted or registered in early admissions, or who have given up regular admission registration by 4 p.m. on the 21st. Successful candidates in regular admissions at industrial universities and junior colleges can apply for additional recruitment regardless of registration status. However, if you apply for additional recruitment while already registered, your university admission may be canceled, so caution is advised. Notifications of acceptance for additional recruitment will be made by the 27th, and registration must be completed by the 28th.
Lee Mangi, director of Uway Education Evaluation Research Institute, explained, "Additional recruitment is generally conducted according to the regular admission guidelines, such as '100% CSAT,' but there are exceptions, so it is important to carefully check university announcements. Recently, even top-tier universities including medical schools conduct additional recruitment, and the competition tends to be higher for popular universities and departments, similar to the pattern of regular admissions."
