[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Heo Kyung-young, the presidential candidate of the National Revolutionary Party, announced on the 20th that he would serve as a president without salary.

On the afternoon of the 20th, Candidate Heo wrote on his Facebook, "I will work as a president without salary," adding, "No one can follow this."

Previously, Candidate Heo claimed that Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, was imitating him. On the 19th, he posted a photo of Lee’s kick and asserted that he was the "original."

Targeting Candidate Lee, Heo wrote, "Not only did you plagiarize Heo Kyung-young’s pledges, but now you are even copying the Mugunghwa kick. Please disclose the source," adding, "You should give me a chance to debate. Are you afraid of the original?" He then added the hashtag 'Heo Kyung-young Phenomenon.'

This appears to be a criticism of Candidate Lee’s kicking performance. On the same day, at a focused rally held in front of Jeonbuk National University titled 'The New Future of Jeonbuk, the Center of Balanced Development in Jeonbuk!', Lee said, "Jeonju is famous for its culture and economy, and it is also famous for soccer. When I was the governor of Gyeonggi Province, I was the owner of Seongnam FC, but we kept losing to Jeonbuk Hyundai. To settle that grudge, I will take a clean shot."

Afterwards, Lee performed a kicking ceremony and said, "COVID-19 has been kicked into the abyss." The Democratic Party also referred to this as a 'booster shot.'

Some pointed out that after Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, received a positive response for his 'uppercut ceremony,' Lee introduced the 'booster shot' ceremony in response.

Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, posted a photo of Lee’s kick on his Facebook and sarcastically said, "No matter how desperate the Democratic candidate is, I never dreamed he would imitate Candidate Heo’s 'Mugunghwa kick.' I am also considering the possibility of a Heo Kyung-young-Lee Jae-myung unification."

Baek Ji-won, the full-time deputy spokesperson of the People Power Party’s election campaign headquarters, also issued a statement criticizing, "Candidate Lee has been making blunders day after day," adding, "One day he throws a bizarre kick to check Candidate Heo, and the next day he dresses in a dobok and performs a board-breaking show."

He continued, "Was he jealous of Candidate Yoon, who is receiving national attention? He copied the 'one-line pledge' he criticized so much, imitated 'AI Yoon Seok-youl,' and now he is even mimicking Yoon’s ceremony," adding, "If you keep making blunders, you might end up tearing your leg."
