[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] OpenSea, the world's largest NFT (Non-Fungible Token) platform, announced that it will conduct an investigation into a phishing attack.
According to CNBC and other media on the 20th (local time), Devin Finzer, CEO of OpenSea, stated on his Twitter the day before, "32 users were affected, and some had their NFTs stolen." Finzer said that the phishing attack is currently inactive and appears to be unrelated to the OpenSea website, and that some of the stolen NFTs have been returned.
There were rumors that the damage from the phishing attack amounted to $200 million (approximately 240 billion KRW), but CEO Finzer responded, "Some of the stolen NFTs were sold, and they currently hold about $1.7 million worth of Ethereum."
OpenSea reiterated that this phishing attack was not email-based and seems to be an isolated incident affecting a small number of users, and that an in-depth investigation related to the phishing attack is underway.
