[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, quoted a Buddhist proverb, "Incense wrapped in paper smells like incense, and fish wrapped in paper smells fishy," and fiercely criticized, "It is natural that wherever Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, goes, a rotten smell follows. Those who received money from Hwacheon Daeyu, the rotten fish, are the smell coming from Yoon himself, who is the paper tightly wrapping the rotten fish."

This was a rebuttal to Yoon's expression during his election campaign that the Democratic Party was "using former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun for election business." Yoon visited Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, the day before and said, "Let's not believe those who sell Presidents Roh Moo-hyun and Kim Dae-jung," and directly attacked the Democratic Party, saying, "How can they put out such figures and use them for election business?" He also said, "Is the Democratic Party really the party that inherits the spirit of Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun?" and "Who ruined the Democratic Party government over the past five years? It is the main members of the Democratic Party led by Lee Jae-myung."

In response, on the 20th, Song criticized on his Facebook, "Instead of apologizing or reflecting, Yoon is distorting the truth by talking about the 'rotten smell'."

Song claimed that Yoon was responsible for the death of former President Roh. He said, "Who and how did President Roh Moo-hyun leave us?" and "Can Yoon Seok-yeol, who was the head of the Central Investigation Division 1 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office at the time and relentlessly harassed President Roh and his family, be said to have no responsibility?" targeting Yoon directly.

Song added, "He should never dare to mention the two presidents in such a vulgar way with that mouth," and urged, "The wounds of the people who could not protect them and had to see them leave in vain still remain deeply. If there is any conscience left, he should immediately apologize to the people and candidate Lee Jae-myung."

Regarding the preferential treatment allegations in the Daejang-dong development project, Song said, "The identity of 'that person' in Daejang-dong has finally been revealed. Throughout the election, they tormented the eyes and ears of the people with black propaganda and fake news, but the truth has become clear and obvious," and pointed out, "Yet (Yoon) is distorting the truth by talking about the 'rotten smell' instead of apologizing or reflecting."

Song continued, "Could that 'rotten smell' be the rotten smell of covering up the Busan Savings Bank bad loan scandal, the rotten smell of Kim Man-bae's sister buying Yoon's father's house and Kwak Sang-do receiving a 5 billion won bribe, the rotten smell of collusion suspicions involving Sambo Construction's Cho Nam-wook, the rotten smell of favoring former tax office chief Yoon Woo-jin, or the rotten truth contained in Kim Man-bae's words 'If it's my card, Yoon Seok-yeol will die'?"
