On the 20th, SBS reported that it was confirmed that the lyricist of Lee’s new song "Seumul Yeodeol" (Twenty-eight), released on music streaming sites on the 18th, was Candidate Lee. Initially, it was known that the famous lyricist Yoon Ilsang participated in writing and composing the song, but the lyricist section of the song introduction also listed the name "Lee Jae-myung."
According to SBS’s investigation, the person who participated in writing the lyrics was indeed Candidate Lee. He is a different person from the composer Lee Jae-myung affiliated with SM Entertainment registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association.
The project was realized when Yoon, who had a close friendship with Candidate Lee, suggested writing the lyrics based on Lee’s story. At first, Lee hesitated, saying, "I’m not sure if people will relate," but he participated with the intention of helping to comfort people’s hearts, which have been strained due to the turbulent presidential election atmosphere and COVID-19, through the power of music.
Candidate Lee personally wrote the lyrics while recalling his younger days, and Lee Eunmi also reportedly agreed to the collaboration willingly. The recording and song production took place around the 23rd of last month, and Candidate Lee met Lee Eunmi and others on site, expressing his satisfaction after seeing the song’s completeness.
Candidate Lee’s side initially considered revealing this through a press release to highlight another side of the candidate, but delayed the disclosure of his participation in the song due to ensuing controversies. However, the campaign headquarters stated that they are reviewing whether to release behind-the-scenes footage of the recording process and music video-style videos.
