[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Korean women's curling has expressed hope for advancing to the semifinals of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The Korean women's national curling team Kim (Kim Eun-jung, Kim Kyeong-ae, Kim Seon-yeong, Kim Cho-hee, Kim Young-mi) defeated Denmark 8-7 in the 8th round of the women's curling round-robin held on the 16th at the National Aquatics Center in Beijing, China.

With a record of 4 wins and 4 losses, Korea must win against Sweden on the 17th to have a chance to advance to the semifinals. Switzerland and Sweden have already secured their spots in the semifinals.

In curling, 10 teams compete in a round-robin, and the top 4 teams advance to the semifinal tournament. In the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Japan advanced to the semifinals in 4th place with a 5-4 record, so Korea can also expect to reach the semifinals if they win the remaining match against Sweden.

On this day, Korea was in a close match with Denmark at 6-7 until the 10th end, then scored 2 points with a final comeback shot to win narrowly 8-7.
