[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hyung-joo] The Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group announced on the 16th that it has been conducting the 'Industry-Academia Cooperation SW Coding Education Volunteer Activity' program from December last year to February this year.
This program, jointly conducted by KEPCO KDN and the SW-Centered University Project Group, aims to spread AI and SW value in the local community. It provided the 'Soft and Fun AI·SW Coding' and 'AI·SW Convergence Youth Coding Classroom' programs for elementary and middle school students from AI·SW vulnerable groups.
In particular, in the Gwangju area, the industry-academia cooperation SW coding education volunteer activities are being conducted at two KEPCO KDN IT Um centers: the 'Baramgaebi Kkumteo' Public Regional Children's Center and 'Notre Dame Brothers'.
This program involved Professor Jo Young-joo in charge, researcher No Chi-sang, and student instructors from the IT Convergence College's Department of Computer Engineering including Ma Ji-an, Jeon Eun-min, and from the Department of Information and Communication Engineering including Moon Kang-hyun and Kim Dong-hyun. They are composed of outstanding talents who have completed the SW Education Instructor Training Course jointly conducted by KEPCO KDN, Jeollanam-do Office of Education, and Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group.
Professor Jo Young-joo said, "I hope this education will be an opportunity for students to develop creative and convergent capabilities required in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution," and added, "Together with the talents produced through the SW Education Instructor Training Course, we will continue to strive to spread social value steadily in places that need AI·SW education in 2022."
A KEPCO KDN official stated, "There are many places in need of education, but opportunities to receive education are lacking at present. We are pleased that university students from the 1st to 5th SW Education Instructor Courses are providing practical help to places where AI·SW education is needed."
A representative of the Baramgaebi Kkumteo Public Regional Children's Center said, "We are grateful to provide the opportunity for Korean-Russian children to experience robot classes for the first time," and added, "We hope such classes will continue steadily even for a small number of children."
