[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Unisem, a semiconductor and display equipment company, has recorded its highest-ever performance.
Unisem announced on the 16th that its consolidated sales based on internal accounting standards reached 296.1 billion KRW, and operating profit was 43.7 billion KRW last year. These represent increases of 37.6% and 35.6% respectively compared to the previous year. Net profit also rose by 85.8% year-on-year to 38.2 billion KRW.
Unisem is a developer of scrubbers, equipment for treating harmful gases generated during semiconductor and display production processes, and chillers, temperature control devices. It supplies equipment to leading domestic and international companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Display, and China's BOE.
Last year, major semiconductor and display customers expanded their facility investments, increasing the supply of scrubbers and chillers. The use of scrubbers to reduce harmful gas emissions within processes is also expanding in line with the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management trend.
Scrubbers have started to be introduced in customers' etching processes. This is expected to expand further this year. The adoption of plasma scrubbers, which have lower carbon emissions, is also spreading.
A company representative said, "We are rewriting our record-high performance for the second consecutive year," adding, "Both the semiconductor and display industries are expanding the application of scrubbers within their processes, so we expect continuous growth."
