[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] On the 13th, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, sharply reacted by comparing Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, proposing opposition unity to a 'Hollywood action.'

On the same day, Lee met with reporters inside the Gwangju Songjeong Station 'Passion Train' (People Power Party policy promotion train) and said, "Since he initially talked about completing the race but then changed his position for unclear reasons, many people have suspicions about the People’s Party side."

Ahn held a press conference that morning and proposed to the People Power Party that the opposition unity be decided through a public primary election. Ahn said, "We can do it in the way agreed upon by the two parties during the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election."

In response, Lee said, "I can only think that the statement attacking our party based on the claim that there will be no unity is a Hollywood action," adding, "We need to verify the truth to respond properly, but the current situation is somewhat confusing."

He continued, "He has no intention of unifying, but since there has been so much talk about unity around him, he preemptively proposes it, which is a logic hard to understand from a common-sense perspective," and questioned, "If this is unity with such a reason, who could accept such sincerity?"

He also said, "Continuing the line of claiming 'no unity,' he is opportunistically looking for chances to win, and doing this at a time that could significantly hinder the opposition’s election campaign makes me think he is too human," adding, "Because he is human, it seems difficult to find a righteous cause."

Regarding the primary election method proposed by Ahn, Lee expressed difficulty in accepting it. He said, "With less than 20 days left until early voting, the policy efforts and the efforts of the younger generation shown so far could be submerged due to political engineering," and predicted, "Unless there is a declaration of support, there is no way synergy will occur in the current situation."

Earlier, Lee posted a photo depicting 'Son Goku in the palm of Buddha’s hand' on his Facebook and criticized Ahn’s unity proposal, saying, "It’s not a case of ‘I thought it might happen, and it did,’ but rather ‘I thought it would happen, and it did.’"
