"Statements by Moon and Others Increasingly Highlight Yoon Seok-yeol Regime Change"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, asserted that the unification between Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the People's Party presidential candidate, will "sink even further below the surface."
On the 11th, during his 'Passion Train' schedule at Daecheon Station in Boryeong, Chungnam, Lee told reporters, "Candidate Ahn likely chose the situation optimized for himself after considering various circumstances, but recently, President Moon Jae-in reacted harshly to Candidate Yoon's usual remarks, which has increasingly highlighted that our Candidate Yoon is the only alternative for regime change."
He also said, "I do not like the term 'unification,'" avoiding the mention itself. He explained, "Unification requires a process of negotiation and mutual adjustment of conditions, which I think is unnecessary. If there is another form of choice that participates in the cause of regime change, appropriate respect and recognition should be given."
He continued, "At this point, since the public recognizes Candidate Yoon as the leading representative of the opposition for regime change, mentioning other possibilities would have the effect of dampening the wind of regime change, so I especially hope that (talks of unification) do not arise within our party."
Regarding the criticism from the Democratic Party of Korea toward Choi Jae-hyung, former Auditor General, who was strategically nominated in the Jongno district of Seoul, he responded, "Former Auditor General Choi Jae-hyung has participated in our party's presidential election process in a model manner and, above all, has made an excellent contribution to the cause of regime change. Above all, the nomination management committee has sufficiently confirmed his competitiveness in the election. Although a political newcomer, he is expected to have a positive impact on the election based on his rich experience."
