CU, Budget Shopping Event Held Due to Popularity of Deuktem Series

CU, Budget Shopping Event Held Due to Popularity of Deuktem Series

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] A sensational discount event will be held where ultra-low-priced products can be purchased even cheaper.

CU announced on the 10th that it will hold a budget-friendly discount event throughout February, offering customers who purchase HEYROO Kimchi Deuktem (8,900 won) or Egg Deuktem (4,900 won), its own PB brand products, a HEYROO Ramen Deuktem.

In fact, Kimchi Deuktem, priced at about one-fourth of the average convenience store kimchi price, ranked first in sales last month among large-capacity kimchi products over 900g, and Egg Deuktem, which is up to 19% cheaper than large supermarkets, also ranked first immediately after its release last month.

In particular, HEYROO Our Rice, well known as the "instant rice cheaper than gum" at the sensational price of 990 won, ranked third in sales among all instant rice products last year. This shows that CU's ultra-low-price product strategy has been successful.

Along with the Deuktem series discount event, CU is offering Baekyang BYC Bien Lager at 10,000 won for 5 cans this month for home drinkers amid beer price increases, and also selling three types of non-alcoholic beers?Tsingtao, Cass Zero, and Hite Zero?at 5,000 won for 4 cans on discount.

Additionally, for bulk buyers, bundled products of bagged and cup noodles (4 to 6 packs) are discounted up to 35%. Sixteen types of bar-type ice cream priced at 1,000 won each can be purchased at 400 won each, a 60% discount, when buying 5 or more.

Moreover, when using delivery services, which have recently seen a sharp increase in demand, customers can find more than 20 types of 1+1 products across five categories including beverages, snacks, and side dishes, and receive a 3,000 won discount on purchases over 20,000 won on delivery platforms such as Yogiyo, Naver, Wemakeprice O, and Kakao Order.

Jinyoungho, Head of Product Division at BGF Retail, said, “We planned this event to help reduce the shopping burden of customers struggling due to COVID-19 by allowing them to purchase quality products economically,” and added, “We will continue to introduce related products and events so that customers can enjoy differentiated shopping benefits at nearby CU stores.”
