[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] AI-based sports education startup Moais announced on the 9th that it has secured an investment of 2.5 billion KRW.
A company representative introduced, "KB Investment, Daekyo Investment, and Creates participated in the Series A investment round."
Moais launched its AI golf coaching service 'Golf Fix' last year, applying a deep learning algorithm developed in-house. Golf Fix analyzes users' golf swings through deep learning and diagnoses personalized swing improvement points in real time. It is an app service that helps users practice golf through customized content recommendations, focused practice, and automatic guideline checks.
Most metrics of Golf Fix have grown more than 400% compared to the previous year. It recorded an average rating of 4.8 over the past six months. Recently, it signed a large-scale supply contract with a golf simulator company using its self-developed AI swing analysis engine.
Ji-ae Lee, Managing Director at KB Investment, explained, "The golf age group is diversifying, and the overall golf market is expanding, including indoor screen golf, outdoor golf courses, and domestic and international golf travel," adding, "Moais allows AI coaching via mobile or tablet."
She continued, "Since the official launch of the Android version last year, new subscribers have been rapidly increasing even without marketing," and added, "We decided to invest because the iOS beta launch last month marked the start of full-scale service, and not only user metrics but also the possibility of overseas service."
Moais CEO Yong-geun Lee said, "The existing sports education paradigm was about passing down know-how by feel or using unscientific teaching methods," adding, "Moais will reorganize around AI to create a world where anyone can learn and enjoy sports easily, comfortably, affordably, and efficiently."
He added, "We will accelerate technology advancement and overseas expansion through this investment," and "We plan to actively recruit experts in various fields."
