On the 8th, the Jungbu Police Station in Incheon announced that they had booked 11 males and females, including a man in his twenties identified as A and a teenage boy identified as B, without detention on charges of joint injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes.
They are accused of collectively assaulting two high school students, including victim C, around 8 p.m. on the 7th of last month at a park in Jung-gu, Incheon. A and others were caught by police officers who arrived at the scene following a passerby’s report.
According to the investigation, B and C did not know each other, but during a conversation on social networking services (SNS), B gathered his acquaintances after C allegedly insulted B’s parents.
Subsequently, B lured C to a park in Incheon and also assaulted D, who had come along with C.
B, along with 11 acquaintances including A, moved around the park while beating C and others, and it is known that they also recorded videos of the victims.
C, who was assaulted, suffered serious injuries including a fractured facial bone and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
The police plan to send the offenders under 14 years old, who are juvenile offenders, to the family court’s juvenile division, and to transfer the remaining offenders and A, who is in his twenties, to the prosecution.
