Sejong-si Announces Purchase of Artifacts and Materials for Local Heritage Museum

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The city announced on the 8th that it will accept applications for the sale of artifacts and materials preserving the history of the region (formerly Yeongi-gun) until the 23rd of next month.

The artifacts and materials to be purchased will be used for exhibition, research, and educational purposes at the Local Heritage Museum, and those with high research and academic value suitable for exhibition related to the region will be included.

Primarily, the purchase targets include all artifacts and materials related to Sejong City, including the prominent clans and figures of Yeongi and Jeonui-hyeon, old documents and maps, as well as materials and photographs that can show changes in education, transportation, industry, and administration.

Applications for selling artifacts are open to anyone who owns cultural properties or individuals and corporations licensed to trade cultural properties.

However, artifacts with unclear ownership or acquisition routes and illegal cultural properties are excluded from acceptance and purchase.

The city will evaluate the eligibility of the artifacts submitted for sale to decide whether to accept them, and after appraisal by the Artifact Appraisal Committee, will determine whether to purchase and the price.

Applications for sale can be submitted by downloading the form posted on the city’s website, filling it out, and sending it via email. For more detailed information, inquiries can be made through the city’s Culture and Arts Division.
