Learning from Yang Chiseung and Son Yeonjae... LG Uplus Home Training Views Up 230%

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] LG Uplus announced on the 8th that the average monthly viewership of its home training service ‘U+Home Training Now,’ which utilizes U+tv, increased by 230% compared to before the revamp in August last year.

Since the revamp, from September last year to January this year, U+Home Training Now recorded over 1 million cumulative views in five months. The average exercise time per customer also increased by 200% compared to before the revamp, and loyal customers who use the service more than three times a month for over 40 minutes increased by 214%.

LG Uplus conducted a customer survey last year and reflected the improvements. The main improvements include ▲strengthening the exercise search function by categorizing exercise types ▲reclassifying exercises by time of day and difficulty level ▲detailed display of exercise information such as calories, difficulty, and exercise time ▲recommendation function for exercises related to the currently viewed content.

By theme, diet (37%) had the highest usage rate, followed by kids (25%) and beginners (21%). By exercise type, stretching (25%), yoga and Pilates (24%), and strength training (16%) were the most popular. By body part, full body (29%), core (19%), lower body (15%), and hips (13%) were the top ranks.

Among instructors, ‘Trainer Yang Chi-seung,’ who gained fame through various entertainment programs, was the most popular. You can also find former rhythmic gymnastics athlete ‘Son Yeon-jae,’ yoga content creator ‘Hwang Ah-young,’ and world-renowned Musclemania competitor ‘Yoon Da-yeon.’ Health information videos featuring professors from Seoul National University Hospital and fitness experts, as well as an 8-week program created in collaboration with global fitness company Les Mills, are also included.

LG Uplus plans to increase the total number of contents to about 500 by adding over 100 new contents featuring exercise methods from active trainers in collaboration with fitness centers in the first half of this year. Last month, they introduced content with Kim Na-hyun, the head instructor of ‘S Bodywork Pilates,’ which has over 110 branches nationwide, and are currently preparing bodyweight exercise and kettlebell programs produced together with centers such as ‘Anytime Fitness’ and ‘Fitness The One.’

Additionally, since the 21st of last month, U+Home Training Now has also been available on the mobile IPTV ‘U+tv Free.’ Until the 20th of this month, new customers who download the app and use the service will be entered into a daily draw where 50 winners will receive a GS25 gift certificate worth 5,000 KRW.

Son Min-seon, Executive Director of LG Uplus Game & Home Training Platform Tribe, said, “This year, we plan to increase content and events involving frontline trainers,” adding, “We will not only grow as a platform where online and offline coexist but also innovate customer experience to improve service quality.”
