[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Jadam Chicken announced on the 7th that it will disclose the nutritional information of all menu items, including chicken and side dishes, so that consumers can transparently check them.
According to the industry, chicken is not subject to mandatory nutritional labeling designated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. However, Jadam Chicken explained that they decided to post the information on their website to provide customers with more transparent information about their products.
The nutritional information table specifies the calories, saturated fat, protein, sugars, and sodium content per 100g of chicken and side dishes, and also presents the percentage of the daily nutritional intake standards. Allergens are also indicated for customers who need to manage their diet due to allergies.
The nutritional information can be checked not only on the website but also on various delivery apps. For example, on Yogiyo, the calories per 100g are displayed under each menu name, and the full nutritional and allergen information for all menu items can be found under the store’s 'Store Information'. On Baedal Minjok, the information for each menu item can be viewed by clicking ‘View Nutritional and Allergen Information’ attached below each menu.
Currently, only two or three chicken brands fully disclose their product nutritional information like this. A Jadam Chicken representative said, “We will operate transparently by disclosing nutritional values so that health-conscious customers can make wise consumption choices and trust Jadam Chicken more.”
