The Democratic Party's Basic Social Committee Spreads Consensus on 'Jupging'... Picking Up Trash While Jogging

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Basic Society Committee directly under Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that "Jupgging" (environmental cleanup activity involving picking up trash while jogging), which has been ongoing since January, is gaining positive responses.

On the 6th, the Basic Society Committee released a press statement saying that over 3,000 people participated in Jupgging events across 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide.

The committee explained, "Jupgging is not only about picking up trash but has also been conducted as various volunteer activities," adding, "When heavy snow fell in the Yeongdong region last January, members of the Gangwon Basic Society Committee Goseong Situation Room took snow removal equipment instead of trash bags and went out on the streets."

They also stated, "The Incheon Basic Society Committee has been conducting Jupgging every weekend for several weeks, and in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam, Jupgging activities actively involve touring traditional markets," adding, "In the Chungcheong region as well, Jupgging is held weekly at different locations."

Chairman Woo Won-sik said, "The value of the Basic Society Committee is to firmly establish the basics, and Jupgging has become a representative activity reflecting the values of our committee," adding, "I hope that the campaigns for positive influence conducted by the Basic Society Committee, such as blood donation, New Year's street greetings, Jupgging, and revitalization of local currency, will surely reach the hearts of the people."
