[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] It has been confirmed that the police have decided not to prosecute the case investigating the suspicion that Tak Hyun-min, the Blue House Protocol Secretary, ordered production guidelines to KBS.

According to the Jongno Police Station in Seoul on the 4th, the case involving Secretary Tak's alleged violation of the Broadcasting Act last December was dismissed due to lack of evidence. President Moon Jae-in announced the '2050 Carbon Neutral Vision Declaration' through live broadcasts on the three major terrestrial broadcasters on December 10, 2020. To emphasize that higher quality video results in greater carbon emissions, the president's speech was broadcast in black and white.

At the time, the People Power Party claimed, "Secretary Tak instructed KBS with specific production guidelines such as 'no insertion of any color subtitles or logos on the black and white screen.' He imposed regulations and interference on the broadcast programming," and filed a complaint accusing him of violating the Broadcasting Act. In response, KBS denied the allegations, stating that there was no directive from the Blue House.

On the same day, Secretary Tak posted the non-prosecution decision document on his Facebook, writing, "For the past five years, I have endured whenever the opposition party made baseless criticisms or attempts to conceal the truth," adding, "When controversies arise, the purpose and essence of the event disappear, and the controversy itself becomes the topic." He further stated, "I hope those who falsely accused someone who did their best will apologize. On the day my duty ends, I will hold you accountable for the lies you have told so far."
