[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The three major indices of the U.S. New York Stock Exchange all closed lower on the 3rd (local time).
On that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a level 1.46% lower than the previous session.
The S&P 500 index fell by 2.44%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq index closed down 3.74%.
By stock, Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, saw its shares plunge by a staggering 26.44% compared to the previous session. This is the largest single-day drop since its listing in 2012. It is interpreted as a result of Meta's earnings and future outlook released the day before falling short of market expectations.
