[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] LG Uplus announced on the 2nd that the educational support program for children of military personnel, '1st U+ Elementary Country 12-Week Challenge,' has concluded.
The U+ Elementary Country 12-Week Challenge is a social contribution education program conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense to support 438 children of military personnel in developing self-directed learning habits, aiming to reduce educational disparities. The program ran from October to the end of December last year.
To provide highly specialized customized education, LG Uplus partnered with the child education service company 'Jjaegak Aegio' to offer online classes focused on Korean, English, and Math using U+ Elementary Country, as well as autonomous learning. The program also included one-on-one teacher feedback, weekly missions, and an appropriate reward system for mission completion, enabling children to continue learning independently without a teacher.
After the 12-week program ended, analysis of online class participation showed that 350 students attended two or more classes, recording an attendance rate of 81%.
According to a survey conducted by LG Uplus targeting parents of military families and Jjaegak Aegio teachers, 83% of parents and 93% of teachers expressed satisfaction with the overall program. In particular, 82% of parents responded that they were satisfied with the teachers' one-on-one class feedback.
Regarding the U+ Elementary Country content, 78% of parents said it was helpful for education. Among the programs, the most beneficial was 'Todo Math (78%),' which offers customized learning through various modes and level settings.
In the second 12-week challenge program to be held in the first half of this year, class time will be extended from 30 minutes to 40 minutes, and the number of students per teacher will be reduced from 20 to 10. Additionally, the number of eligible families will be expanded by selecting an additional 1,000 children, supporting the education of a total of 1,500 military children.
Meanwhile, LG Uplus and the Ministry of National Defense signed a business agreement in August last year to support education for elementary school children of military personnel. The Ministry selects 500 children of military personnel to receive the company's exclusive elementary education service 'U+ Elementary Country,' along with dedicated smart pads and communication fees (for 2 years).
