Dobong-gu 'Changdong Minja Station' Construction Contractor Lotte Construction Selected, Construction Preparation Complete... Construction Resumed April 2022 with May 2025 Completion Target
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) announced that construction on the ‘Changdong Private Station’ (Changdong 135-1 and 6 other parcels), which had been halted for the past 11 years, will resume in April 2022 with the goal of completion by May 2025.
In November 2019, corporate rehabilitation proceedings were initiated, and on May 18, 2021, approval for corporate rehabilitation was granted by the Seoul Rehabilitation Court.
Accordingly, on January 28, 2022, a construction contract was finally signed with the contractor (Lotte Construction), and construction began.
The ‘Changdong Private Station,’ with a total floor area of 87,047㎡ spanning from basement level 2 to 10 floors above ground, was originally approved for construction in 2004 for purposes including retail and transportation facilities and began construction that same year. However, construction was halted in November 2010, causing hardships for over 1,000 affected individuals.
However, last year, the project received corporate rehabilitation approval from the Seoul Rehabilitation Court, obtained building permits (design changes), and after leasing and sales, currently boasts a sales rate of over 85%, indicating smooth progress.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Having overcome difficult procedures and challenges, we hope that the ‘Changdong Private Station,’ a long-cherished project of Dobong residents, will be successfully completed, contributing to the creation of a new economic center in Changdong and further development of the surrounding area.”
