The police announced through their internal network the day before, "Regarding the 2022 regular promotion exam for Superintendent, acts undermining the fairness of the exam were confirmed, and the next highest scorer has been newly admitted. Necessary measures are currently underway." The additional successful candidate is Superintendent Kim from the Suncheon Police Station in Jeonnam. Initially, the police announced the successful candidates on the 13th, but later confirmed cheating and took these measures.

The police conduct regular promotion exams annually for ranks below Superintendent. Candidates include Patrol Officer, Senior Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Superintendent ranks. Final successful candidates are determined by combining exam scores and work evaluations. This year, a total of 18,142 people nationwide took the exam.
