CHA University Graduate School of Art Therapy Conducts 'Visiting Art Prescription' to Overcome COVID Blue

CHA University Graduate School of Art Therapy Conducts 'Visiting Art Prescription' to Overcome COVID Blue Professor Kim Tae-eun's team from the Department of Art Therapy is conducting the 'Art On Mind' program.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] The Graduate School of Art Therapy at CHA University of Medicine and Science announced on the 28th that it received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recognition of its contribution to revitalizing cultural and artistic healing, including the implementation of the "Visiting Art Prescription" program for people suffering from depression due to COVID-19.

A team consisting of Professor Kim Tae-eun and four students from the Graduate School of Art Therapy designed a five-week art psychotherapy program, including an online exhibition, for nurses and social workers struggling with the overwhelming workload caused by COVID-19.

Additionally, through the "Art On Mind" program, which means brightening the mind through art, 2,000 "Make Your Own Tree" kits were distributed to users of mental health welfare centers in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Suncheon-si, Jeonnam, and Buk-gu, Daegu, to provide psychological stability to those experiencing depression and anxiety. Online art therapy was also provided to comfort and encourage individuals as they created and cared for their trees.

Professor Kim Tae-eun said, "Although there were communication difficulties when creating the kits since the program was not conducted face-to-face, we were able to support our services even in areas that are difficult to visit directly. Moving forward, we will continue to develop programs to activate online-based art therapy and kit-based art therapy so that more people can take a brief rest and receive healing in their daily lives."

The Graduate School of Art Therapy at CHA University of Medicine and Science has continued its social contribution activities, including signing business agreements to provide art therapy and psychological counseling to students struggling with school maladjustment and difficulties, as well as to people in society who need protection and psychological healing.
