[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Regarding the lawsuit filed by the Korean Kemi ship, which was detained in Iran, against the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it "has made its best efforts."
On the 28th, the spokesperson office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said about the Korean Kemi ship incident, "The government prioritized the safety and protection of our citizens above all else and made every effort to resolve the issue through close communication with the Korean Kemi side, negotiations with Iran, and consultations with other related countries."
The Korean Kemi shipowner reportedly filed a lawsuit last September, claiming that the government failed to fulfill its duty to protect the safety and property of its citizens during the detention and release process. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded, "The shipowner's claims are not true," and added, "Considering that the related lawsuit is currently ongoing, we will address the details thoroughly during the litigation process."
