[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Moon Seung-wook visited Yongmun Traditional Market in Seoul on the 28th ahead of the Seollal holiday to inspect holiday grocery prices and energy safety.
Minister Moon personally used Onnuri gift certificates to purchase seasonal items such as fruits and rice cakes, monitoring Seollal price trends and listening to the efforts and difficulties of traditional market merchants who have been struggling due to COVID-19.
Minister Moon stated, "Yongmun Market is establishing itself as a successful model of digital transformation for traditional markets through collaboration with Sookmyung Women's University on meal kit (easy-to-cook meals) development, live commerce broadcasts, delivery apps, and other online platforms. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will also strengthen electricity and gas safety inspections so that local residents can use traditional markets safely and conveniently."
Meanwhile, considering the COVID-19 situation, the Ministry delivered holiday items such as fruits and Korean traditional sweets purchased at the traditional market to Cheongun Nursing Home through a non-face-to-face method.
