On the 27th, Busan Nambu Police Station announced that they had arrested Mr. A on charges including obstruction of official duties.
Mr. A is accused of making a 112 call at around 1:20 a.m. on the 21st from a villa in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, while intoxicated, threateningly demanding “hurry up and dispatch” police officers, and then wielding a weapon against the officers who arrived at the scene.
Officers from the Munhyeon Police Substation, who received the report, responded to the scene and found Mr. A on the building’s stairs.
As the police approached, Mr. A suddenly drew a concealed weapon and swung it at the officers. The police dodged the weapon and immediately subdued Mr. A.
Mr. A was known as a ‘person of interest’ who habitually made false 112 calls 85 times without any particular reason.
After receiving the report, the 112 situation room issued instructions to ‘prepare for unexpected situations,’ and according to the on-site response manual, the police wore protective gear including stab-resistant equipment and subdued the suspect, the police explained.
